Hillview Caring Days Program

Hillview Senior Care is a licensed senior care provider offering long-term residential care and a small, personalized adult day program in a calm, home-like environment. We focus on dignity, safety, and meaningful daily support for seniors—while giving caregivers reliable respite and confidence in their loved one’s care.

FAQs Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions – Hillviews  Caring Day Program

How do I know if it’s time to enroll my loved one in a day program?

Adult day programs are often helpful when a senior is no longer able to safely manage their day independently or no longer enjoys activities they once did. If your loved one needs supervision, reminders, or assistance with daily tasks, or if a caregiver is becoming tired or overwhelmed, a day program can provide both support and relief.

What types of medical or behavioral needs do you accept?

Our program supports seniors with early to mid-stage memory loss or dementia, mobility challenges, and chronic health conditions. Participants may use walkers or wheelchairs and may have conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, stroke history, or similar diagnoses. Each participant is assessed individually to ensure safety and appropriateness.

My parent is still highly functioning. Will they fit in?

Yes. Many participants are still conversational, socially engaged, and independent in many areas. Our program offers meaningful social interaction, routine, and the opportunity to build friendships in a calm, supportive setting.

My loved one is incontinent. Is that okay?

Yes. Incontinence does not exclude someone from our program. Families provide necessary supplies, and staff provide respectful assistance as needed.

Are there conditions that would prevent participation?

We are not able to accept individuals who are physically aggressive or whose behaviors would place themselves or others at risk. Individuals who attempt to leave the property unsafely and cannot be redirected may not be appropriate for the program. Safety is always our priority.

What kinds of activities do you offer?

We offer a variety of activities throughout the day focused on physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being. Activities may include gentle seated exercise, music, conversation, games, puzzles, art, reminiscing, relaxation, and social engagement. Activities are adjusted daily based on the needs and interests of the participants present.

Do participants have to participate in activities?

No. Participation is encouraged but never required. We respect individual preferences, energy levels, and the need for rest or quiet time.

Do you provide food?

Yes. Nutritious meals and snacks are provided during the day, with reasonable accommodations when possible.

What are the program hours?

The Hillview Day Program operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Families may choose part-day, full-day, or scheduled weekly attendance options.

Do you provide bathing and personal care services?

Yes. We provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, shaving, and nail care. All personal care is provided respectfully and with dignity.

Do you manage medications?

We do not administer or manage medications. Medications brought to the program are stored in a locked, secure area. At scheduled times, medications may be released to the participant for self-administration or handed to a designated responsible party.

Do you provide transportation?

Transportation is not provided directly. Families may arrange transportation independently, and we are happy to discuss options or make recommendations if needed.

(check back in the future will may be  providing transportation)

What if my loved one resists attending a day program?

This is very common, especially in the early stages of cognitive change. Many participants adjust quickly once they experience the routine, social connection, and welcoming environment. We are happy to work with families on strategies to support a smooth transition.

What does the program cost?

We offer both hourly respite and monthly enrollment options. Hourly respite care is $35 per hour with a 2-hour minimum. Monthly enrollment options provide the best value and predictable scheduling.

Does Medicare cover adult day services?

Medicare does not typically cover adult day services. Our program is private pay. some long term care insurance will pay.

How many participants attend each day?

Our adult day program is intentionally small, with a maximum of 5 participants at any given time. This allows for individualized attention, safety, and a calm, home-like environment.

Do you work collaboratively with families?

Yes. We view families as essential partners in care and value open communication. We are always willing to collaborate and support families throughout their caregiving journey.
